Abu Skander’s Revival

June 27, 2010

I have grown tired of politics! Really! To the point where every political discussion seem irrelevant to me. Even the never-ending conflict in Israel/Palestine. Since Abu Skanders main focus was that conflict in particular, you might as well refer to him as dead.

The new Abu Skander will be blogging mainly about Islam, but at a  basic level. I am not a scholar of Islam, so the conclusions that i reach are my own – my opinion couldn’t be less relevant when trying to understand Islam. Islam is the consensus of the Scholars. What i will be blogging about is my understanding of Islam. Hope that made sense.

Edit: I will not promise that i will never commend on politics again 😀

Salam.

Muslim Feminists – When arguments are like a baloon

May 3, 2008

I am growing tired of the post-modernistic feminist muslims (and how funny is it that they are very often Hadith-rejectors!). Really, i am. I have no problem with people disagreeing with me, but when one seeks to alter Islam to make it fit to their own view, i get disgusted. The following article is a refutation of Aminah Wadud, “the academic face of a Western Islam rife”, by Shaykh Gibril:

Democracy: Heresy pr. definition?

April 5, 2008

Am I a democrat? Is democracy kufr?

I am not a scholar and do not posses the level of Ijtihad, this is not a fatwa, so the following is nothing but my own view. If someone have anything from the scholars of Islam that opposes my view, feel free to let me know.

Turkish waqf to alter the Sunnah?

March 3, 2008

Yes, appearently, this is the case according to the BBC narration of the event:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7264903.stm

However, according to Mehmet Gormez, the duputy director of the Turkish waqf, they do not intend to reform the hadith or Islam:
“No Muslim in the right mind would dare delete any hadith or tamper with the Prophet’s heritage,” Gormez told IOL.

Taqlid – Trusting a mujtahid

February 22, 2008

Islām is like a fortress, or castle, that is guarded continuously by armed sentinels, within its many-feet thick walls that are impenetrable, save for one heavily protected gate and drawbridge that opens by falling over a crocodile-infested moat, that is many metres wide, and cannot be crossed nor overcome. How do you destroy such a people who are so aggressively protected by revealed laws and sincerely adopted rules, yet are themselves so pure of presence, serene of spirit, modest of manners and content of custody? What defines a Sunni Muslim

February 21, 2008

The question on what defines a sunni muslim often arises, and the answer according to the Ulamaa of Islam is that a Sunni Muslim is one who adheres to one of the two schools of Aqida (doctrine), which is the Ash’ariyya and the Maturidiyya, and one of the four schools of fiqh (jurisprudence), who is Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi’i and Hanbali.

Refer to Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, in his brilliant work Fatawa al-Hadithiyya.

The reason why i oppose Hizb-ut-Tahrir

February 21, 2008

All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.

The above sentence (Alhamdulillahi rabb el3alameen), expressed daily by muslims, is in my opinion one of the essences of Islam. We should praise and thank Allah for everything – for everything we have, knowing that Allah (tt) is capable of everything, even taking away from us what we have. Not only by uttering these words, but by feeling a deep, sincere thankfulness in our hearts towards Allah, tabaraka wa ta3ala.

I thank Allah (tt) that i now have the oppoturnity to express why i oppose Hizb-ut-Tahrir. (more…)
